Web 1.0, 2.0 & 3.0

 Hi!

Today we are going to  learn more about the critical distinctions between Web 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0.

Web 1.0 is a cognition-techno-social system. Humans use networked information technologies as a medium to publish their ideas and engage with the opinions of others.

It:

  • comprises data that can only be read via the Internet
  • contains linear information
  • is a static web
  • information on the Web 1.0 platform can’t or won’t be changed
Web 2.0 is defined by the transition from static web pages to dynamic or user-generated content and the rise of social media.

It:
  • progressed with the technology of including writable data on the Internet
  • contains non-linear information
  • is dynamic in structure
  • content necessitates frequent updates and changes
Web 3.0 refers to the evolution of web utilization and interaction which includes altering the Web into a database, with the integration of DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology blockchain is an example) and that data can help to make Smart Contracts based on the needs of the individual.
Main features:
  • Semantic Web
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • 3D Graphics
  • Connectivity
  • Ubiquity
  • DLT and Smart Contracts

The potential of Second Life services in language teaching/learning

The integration of skills is possible in SL and the related applications in terms of task design and material development can be aimed in order to increase the effectiveness of using SL in English teaching. Since the speaking and listening skills are the very first ones to improve, SL environment should be introduced to both practitioners and learners. An educational policy to overcome the financial challenges can be developed so that the universities are supported in the budget to improve SL related applications within the curricula. And lastly, training for both practitioners and users may develop the effectiveness of using SL environment in English teaching.

Improve your language skills using online services and multimedia soft

Today i'd like to share my opinion about some  online services and multimedia soft connecting with language learning. Auralog's Tell Me More programm In my opinion this service is kind of outdated and there is a narrow variety of audiobooks and films. http://literacynet.org/learningresources There is not enough of the given information. http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts/esl/index.html Here you can read theory, but can not practice. I would at least add small tests. So, here are TOP 3 services i like the most: Free English pronunciation Course program I think this source is really useful, because it’s important to improve your pronunciation by watching videos made by native speakers. And also I’m familiar with Heather Hansen, the tutor, because on our 1st year in university we used to watch her video “Chaos”. And since then I’ve watched a couple of her videos. www.esltower.com/ It’s...

The google applications include communication and collaboration apps that work across platforms, making education more mobile and accessible. So, here are the top rated apps to me: GOOGLE DOCS AND GOOGLE SHEETS They allows you to track any changes made to the document in real time, leave notes, corrections, use the built-in chat. An ideal tool for group work on text and error correction. A great feature of Google Docs for teachers is the ability to track the changes made to the document by each of the participants using the Revision History function. GOOGLE FORMS With Google Forms it is very easy to create questionnaires, quizzes, questionnaires. Ideal for homework and independent work in the classroom. GOOGLE SITES projects have a platform for comments and statistics services, which means that each student will receive feedback from the teacher and classmates.
